Hello – my monthly insurance (Progressive) is 448/mo for a Tesla Model 3. I’ve shopped around multiple providers and this was on the lower end for mediocre/poor coverage and high deductible. I took it for now, but plan to hop off as soon I find something better or reasonable.
Details:
-No tickets or accidents or DUI (ever)
-Have never made an insurance claim
-Almost 30, Male, married
-Solid credit (720-740)
-Florida
I’ve tried policygenius and individual shopping. I’ve asked agents and they just claim “Tesla’s are expensive to insure” and “Florida prices” and “you can install this device in your vehicle for discounts” but when comparing online I’m absolutely one of the highest rates I’ve seen (I see people in the 80-200 range, so this is more than double). I’m not sure what is exactly going wrong and I’m curious if anybody else has encountered this issue where their car insurance doesn’t make sense and how they’ve solved it. My home or other types of insurance products are normal / good prices. Policies are not bundled together but agents say it would not help much.
Would appreciate any insight, thank you.
